The PHS girls track and field team competed at the 14-team  South Shelby Open last Monday, and it was historic one for Palmyra as Candra King broke the school record in the shot put.

 

The junior threw the shot 12.43 meters shattering the old record of 12.27 meters held by Dimonique McGruder.

King also took first place in the discus.

Also placing were: 

Tenlee Voss, first place in the 100 meter hurdles, second place in the 300 meter hurdles; and third place in the long jump; 

Laurin Sheputis, first place in the 800 meters; and second place in the 400  meters;

Abbey Redd, first place in the pole vault;

the first place 4 x 100 meter relay team of Redd, Voss, Taytum White and Bella McBride;

the first place 4 x 200 meter relay team of Redd, Alaina Loman, McBride and White;

the first place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sheputis, Sandra Leon, Loman and White.

Taytum White, second place in the 200 meters; 

Chloe Hicks, second place in the high jump; 

Hailey Kroeger, third place in the javelin; 

Bella McBride, fourth place in the 100 meters; 

Mallory Sublette, fourth place in the 1600 meters; and

Loman, fourth place in the pole vault;

Sarah Kliewer, seventh place in the discus and ninth place in the shot put;

Janie Triplett, eighth place in the high jump; and

Leon, ninth place in the 800 meters.

The meet was the first one held at South Shelby’s new all-weather track and field facility. 

The Lady Panthers have been assigned to Class 3, District 4 this season along with Boonville, Bowling Green, California, Centralia, Clark County, Hallsville, Macon, Montgomery County, North Callaway and Southern Boone.
