The PHS varsity baseball team struggled in two games across the river last week, falling to Quincy Notre Dame and Quincy High School.
The Panthers opened the week with a 10-2 loss at QND Tuesday.

Palmyra’s Ethan Tallman delivers a pitch against Quincy Notre Dame.
Palmyra was out hit only 5-3, but four of QND’s hits went for extra bases including a grand slam and two-run home run.
The game started out as a pitching duel between Palmyra’s Ethan Tallman and QND’s Evan Kenning, until the bottom of the third when QND’s leadoff batter hit a popup to shallow right field and the ball was allowed to drop for a two-base error.
The next batter flew out to center, but that was followed by a run-scoring triple and a ground out.
But, with two outs, QND drew two walks ahead of Brady Kindhart’s grand slam home run, and the Panthers were down 5-0.
Palmyra answered back in the fourth with two runs on a leadoff walk by Raeson Miller, a single by Jon Lundberg, a double by Colby Cook and a passed ball.
QND got the five run lead back in the bottom of the inning on a single, two walks and an error.

Jon Lundberg makes a catch in shallow center field during Tuesday’s game against QND.
The Raiders then capped off their scoring with three in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run home run by Alex Connoyrer.
Tallman gave up seven runs, but only one was earned, on three hits. Gaving Greving finished, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on two hits and two walks.
The Panthers were out of the game quickly in their 15-0 loss to QHS two days later.
The Blue Devels scored two in the first, four in the second and nine in the third, and the game was over.
QHS banged out 15 hits including a home run and two doubles in the three-inning contest.
Palmyra was held to three hits, including a double by Ty Haskins and singles by Greving and Miller.
This week, the Panthers were scheduled to host Bowling Green, Monday and Macon Tuesday, before traveling to Moberly this Saturday.
