Two members of the PHS boys track and field team qualified for state after placing in the top four
during the Class 3, Sectional 2 meet in Mexico Saturday.
Heading to the Class 3 state meet to be held at Jefferson City High School’s Atkins Stadium this Friday and Saturday are Carson Hicks, a junior, and Evan Pennewell, a sophomore.
Pennewell advanced the state meet for the second straight year by placing second in the pole vault at 13 feet, 3.5 inches.
He is hoping to improve on his 11th place finish last year.
Hicks, who advances to state for the first time, took second place in the high jump with a leap of six feet, two inches.
Also competing at sectionals but not qualifying for state was Carter Harper, who took sixth place in the 300 meter hurdles at 42.10.
