The PHS boys cross country team took third place out of eight teams at its own invitational meet Saturday at Flower City Park.
The Panthers finished with 95 points to place behind South Shelby, 56, and Clark County, 88, but ahead of Paris, 96, Mark Twain, 104, Monroe City, 120, Marion County, 122, and Hannibal Area Home Educators, 173.

Jacob Barnes
Palmyra was led by Jacob Barnes, who finished eighth overall in a time of 19:19.83.
Also competing for Palmyra were: Carter Harper, 11th place, 19:45.80; Wesley Summers, 13th, 20:07.09; Ashton Lovegreen, 42nd, 23:45.48; Landon Jurado, 45th, 24:39.88; and Aiden Lynn, 53rd, 26:12.25.
Clark County’s Mason McDaniel took top honors in a time of 17:44.84.
The PHS girls could not qualify for a team score, with only two runners competing.
Brooklynn Platt took 26th place in a time of 29:54.68 and Lillian Cramlet finished 28th in 31:37.37.

Monroe City took the team competition, and Winfield’s Falyn Davidson won the meet in a time of 22:08.09.
Palmyra opened the season at Mexico Sept. 1 and the boys team finished sixth out of 10 teams.
The Panthers scored 189 points to finish behind Centralia, 27, Mexico, 63, Hannibal, 106, South Shelby, 111, andMacon, 130, but ahead of Mark Twain, 196, Monroe City, 198, Missouri Military Academy, 199, and Salisbury, 217.
Barnes led the team in a time of 10:15.65, good enough for 22nd place out of 82 runners.
Also competing for Palmyra were Harper, 30th, 20:03.55; Summers, 36th, 20:30.37; Jurado, 72nd, 24:25.24; and Lovegreen, 76th, 25:32.91.
Montgomery City’s Jadrian Thurmon won the meet in a time of 17:00.34.
In girls competition, Palmyra’s Platt took 55th out of 68 runners with a time of 30:28.43, while Cramlett finished 59th with a time of 31:25.28.
Hannibal’s Jocelyn Dorsey won the girls meet in a time of 21:11.59.
