The Marion County R-II girls basketball team lost a tough season opener, 34-31, at home to Paris.
The Lady Mustangs got out to a 12-6 lead as Kennedy Hathaway and Riley Holt both scored five points to start the game.
Paris went on a 9-5 run to climb to within two going into half time and tied the game up at 23 going into the final period and won it with by out-scoring Marion County 11-8 the rest of the way.
Scoring for Marion County were Holt, 10, Grace Jensen-Page, eight, Hathaway, seven, Maya Bock, four, and Sam Kindhart, two.
The Lady Mustangs were scheduled to host North Shelby Tuesday before the Thanksgiving break.
