The PHS boys and girls wrestling teams competed at the Battle of the Katy Trail in Sedalia, Saturday.
In boys action, Brayden Pillars went 3-1 to take fourth place at 165 pounds.
He won by fall at 2:38 over South Callaway’s Ethan Munford, won by fall at 1:01 over Lawson’s Payton Vosika, and won by a 9-4 decision over Cole Camp’s Grant Rodriguez before losing the third-place match by a 12-2 major decision to Centralia’s Wyatt Adkisson.
Tyler Spicknall (132 pounds) won two matches by fall, at 3:33 over Fatima’s Zachary Kloeppel, and at 3:35 over Lawson’s Josh Teegarden.
Ace Harper (190 pounds) went 2-1 and finished in 18th place, winning by fall at 1:23 over Fatima’s Chase Willis, and by fall at 5:10 over Versailes’ Shan Bright and losing by fall at 1:16 to Knob Noster’s Trey Payne.
Talon Markley lost his two matches in the 175-pound weight class.
In girls action, Ellyse Lorenson (170 pounds) won first place, winning four matches by fall, at 1:06 over Cameron’s Madycen Hedgpath, at 0:55 over Mexico’s Karisa Hayden, at 1:16 over Stover’s Ella Hodges, and at 2:46 over Kearney’s Caril Vargas.
Janie Triplett (135 pounds) took second place, winning matches by fall at 5:20 over El Dorado Springs’ Elizabeth Henderson, at 1:32 over Plattsburg’s Allyson Dunivan, and at 3:05 over Brookfield’s Kaecen Brown.
Kyndal Witt (130 pounds) took sixth place, winning by forfeit over Cole Camp’s Rylee Fairchild and losing by a 5-3 decision to Kearney’s Savannah McDowell.
Summer Gollaher (140 pounds) finished 10th, winning matches by fall at 0:49 over Plattsburg’s Tesha Traub and by fall at 1:13 over Excelsior Springs’ Lauren Park.
