Youth Self-Defense Summer Camp in Marion County June 25-27

Royce Gracie Academy of Palmyra, Mo., is hosting an intensive three-day Youth Self-Defense Summer Camp in Marion County June 25-27.

Kids and teens (ages 7-15) will spend mornings (9-11 a.m.) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (June 25-27) at Fit Garage in Philadelphia, Mo., focusing on Helio Gracie’s Philosophy of self-defense and the Stand Up Self-Defense Curriculum to Surprise Attacks.

Participants will then attend evening self-defense classes at Royce Gracie Academy in Palmyra, Mo., (6 – 6:45 p.m.) on Tuesday June 25 and Thursday June 27.  These sessions will focus on Takedowns/Throwing & Grappling for self defense.

Royce Gracie Jiu-jitsu focuses exclusively on realistic self-defense techniques against the most realistic and common bullying confrontations or real-life attacks.

Unlike the very different practice of sport ‘jiu-jitsu’ or ‘bjj’ for tournaments and competitions between trained athletes, Royce Gracie Jiu-jitsu focuses entirely on self-defense for the most common types of realistic attacks on the street individuals are likely to encounter such as hair pulls, shirt grabs, sucker punches and striking, headlocks, and even weapons defenses.

Those in attendance will also learn imperative de-escalation techniques to avoid any confrontation before utilizing the most legitimate and tested, authentic self-defense techniques in the world.

All summer camp classes and lessons are taught by Royce Gracie’s personal black belt and Palmyra resident, Mark Kerkhoff.

To register, visit https://roycegraciemo.com/.  Registration closes Saturday June 22 at noon. A minimum of 10 students is required by deadline.
