Martha Jane Long
Martha Jane Long of Nampa, Idaho passed away October 31, 2025 at home. Jane was born on January 23, 1933 in Emerson, Missouri to Lloyd and Martha Yarbrough. Jane was a graduate of Palmyra High School and graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College in three years. Jane was Palmyra high school basketball queen, Palmyra Fall Festival queen and Barnwarming queen at Kirksville. She enjoyed working with her dad’s black Angus cattle, and was also an excellent seamstress who could fashion a dress from a feed sack or make a fancy formal or a man’s three piece suit. After college Jane taught Home Economics in Pen-y, Missouri where she met and married Russel Roger Long. They had two sons, Allen and Jack. When they moved to St Louis a daughter Michelle was born. Jane was a devoted big sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Jane was also a member of Eastern Star where she enjoyed going with her sister-in-law Mary Yarbrough. After the family moved to Idaho, they lived on her Uncle Walter Yarbrough’s ranch before moving to Grand View, Idaho. They often came back to Missouri to visit family.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Martha Yarbrough, and her husband Roger Long. Surviving are siblings James (Mary) Yarbrough and Joe (Janet) Yarbrough of Palmyra MO, and Joyce Yarbrough of St Louis MO. She is also survived by her children: Allen (Debbie) Long of Grand View ID, Jack (Sheri) Long of Nampa ID and Michelle (Bill) Sweet of Dietrich ID; Grandchildren: Jack Daniel (Trisha) Long, Brandi (Matthew) Arellano, Jay (Karlee) Long and Great-grandchildren: Emily Jane Long, Jaton, Kason, and Rylon Long.
