PHS boys golfers top Centralia, Monroe City

The PHS boys golf team finally got some good weather and opened the season with a victory at a tri-meet held at Norwoods Golf Course in Hannibal last Tuesday.

The Panthers shot a 350 to top Centralia (361) and Monroe City (432).

“I thought we played okay,” said Coach Chris Parsons of the team’s first outing.

“Going out for 18 on Day 1 made it a long afternoon for some, but it also helped work out some kinks.

“They all had a bit lower score expectations, but now we have time to get things fixed. It’s a great group of guys and we will get there.”

Brady Shively led the team with a 12-over-par 84 and was followed by Jacob Webster, 86, Elijah Edwards, 90, and Laydin Lochman, 90. Jimmy Scott scratched with a 116.

Cullen Bennett, of Centralia, led all golfers with 81.
