The PHS varsity softball team earned road victories last week over Bowling Green and Clark County after falling at Moberly.
Jansen Juette blasted a three-run home run in the top of the eighth to provide the margin of victory in a 5-2 extra-inning thriller at Bowling Green Thursday.
Kennedy Wilson then held the Lady Bobcats scoreless in the bottom of the eighth to earn a complete-game four-hitter, striking out seven while walking three.
Bowling Green’s two runs came in the bottom of the second on a triple and a single, a triple and an error.
The Lady Bobcats made that score hold up until the top of the sixth when Palmyra tied the game on singles by Abbey Redd, Bella McBride and Wilson.
The Lady Panthers threatened to take the lead in the top of the seventh when Jenna McVeigh doubled and stole third, but was unable to score.
Hailey Kroeger was hit by a pitch to start the top of the eighth and moved to second on Jazlin Gottman’s single.
That set the stage for Juette who, on an 0-2 count with two outs, launched her home run over the fence in left.
Palmyra earned its first conference victory, 9-1, at Clark County Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers scored three in the second and lead 5-1 going into the top of the seventh when they added four insurance runs.
Jazlin Gottman pitched a complete game, striking out 14 while giving up five hits and two walks.
McBride, Lexi Peuster and McVeigh all had two hits each.
Kroeger hit a home run, Kennedy Wilson a triple and Peuster a double.
The Lady Panthers opened the week with a tough 2-1 loss at Moberly, Monday.
Palmyra scored a scratch run in the first and hoped it would hold up all the way before Moberly walked off with a two-run rally.
Abbey Redd led off the game with a single, then stole second and third, and with one out, scored on Hailey Kroeger’s grounder to short.
Moberly’s Jade Mickle lead off the bottom of the seventh with a single to center and moved to second on Madyson Klostermann’s single to right.
The next two batters reached on fielder’s choices, which plated the first run. Then, with one out, Madison Thompson singled to left to drive in the winning run.
Palmyra had other chances to score but could not get another run it.
Juette led off the second with a single but ended up being stranded at third.
Kroeger hit a two-out triple in the sixth inning but was also left on base.
Klostermann pitched a complete game for Moberly, striking out five and walking none while giving up six hits.
Wilson started for Palmyra and pitched four shut-out innings before being relieved by Gottman, who suffered the loss.
Palmyra was scheduled to play three games this week including hosting conference games against South Shelby, Tuesday, and Macon, Thursday, before traveling to Columbia to play Battle, Saturday.
