The Marion County R-II girls basketball team extended its winning streak to six with victories over Wellsville-Middleton and Macon County last week.

The Lady Mustangs (11-2) went into the this week’s North Shelby Tournament on the strength of a 55-22 home win over Macon County during senior night Tuesday.

Seniors Delaney Straus and Halle Keilholz powered the offense, scoring 31 points during the team’s 37-8 first-half run.

Keilholz sank six three-pointers, including five in the first half and led all scores with 20 points, while Straus put in nine field

goals to finish with 18 points.

Also contributing on offense were Riley Donath, five, Olivia Wood, four, Madison Stewart, three, Karissa Kennedy, two, Tristen Holt, two, and Riley Holt, one.

The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 14-1 lead on their way to a 53-30 win at Wellsville-Middleton, Monday.

Keilholz helped fuel the fast start with three first-quarter three-pointers and ended up scoring 13 points, while Delaney Straus contributed a game-high 15 points.

Also scoring were Stewart, 11, Donath, six, Wood, five, Tristen Holt, two, and Riley Holt, one.
