The PHS Lady Panther varsity softball team evened its early season record to 3-3 with victories against Louisiana and Mark Twain last week.
Kennedy Wilson pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout in Palmyra’s 4-0 win in the home opener over Louisiana last Tuesday.

The right-hander struck out five and walked one, on 88 pitches, 60 of which went for strikes.
Palmyra scored two runs in the first and another in the second, to give Wilson some cushion to work with, and then added an insurance run in the sixth.
The Lady Panther offense came on four hits and nine walks.
Abbey Redd, Lexie Peuster, Jenna McVeigh and Wilson all hit singles, while Hailey Kroeger led the team with three walks.
Redd scored two runs, while Alaina Loman and Madi Fessenden scored the others. Credited with RBI were Peuster, Wilson and Anna Ragar.
The Lady Panthers also added an 18-6 win at Mark Twain, Thursday.

Palmyra banged out 14 hits in scoring seven runs in the first, six in the third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth, while Wilson earned the mound
victory by going the first five innings.
Redd went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and three driven in.
Also having two-hit games were Loman, Wilson, McVeigh, and McBride.
Wilson, McVeigh, Kroeger and Ragar all hit doubles.
This week, the Lady Panthers were scheduled to travel to LaPlata, Tuesday, and Monroe City, Thursday.
JV opens season
The junior varsity squad opened the season with a 6-6 tie at home against Louisiana.
Arizona Mitchell pitched all four innings for Palmyra.
Palmyra managed just one hit, a single by Fessenden.
The team also earned its first victory, 9-1, over Mark Twain.
Mitchell pitched the entire game, giving up one-unearned run and one hit while striking out six.
Leading the offense were Jaeda Parker, 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI, and Jerzey Ramey, 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
